New to North Park?
Our Children's Ministry wing is located on the second floor, down the hallway to your left. The rooms are clearly marked, but if you have any questions, look for Kelly Laird, our Director of Children's Ministry.
Secure Check In
During nursery and children and worship check-in, each child will receive a numbered security badge with a matching parent badge; the parent badge must be returned when picking up your child.
Staff and Volunteers
Anyone over the age of 18 that is working with children at North Park Church is required to submit up to date clearances. Volunteers are required to fill out an application each year. Paid nursery workers are interviewed and submit 2-3 references that are checked before hiring. All of our nursery workers are currently certified in CPR and First Aid.
The safety of our children is extremely important to us. We are constantly evaluating our procedures and updating our security policy to protect our children.
If you would like to volunteer with kids, you will need to fill out this form online.
Nursery care is provided from birth-36-months is provided during our 9:00 a.m. Sunday School hour as well as during worship. We have a safety policy in place to protect your children. We have paid nursery staff with clearances, who work in the same room each week to provide consistent, loving care to your child. We also have a team of volunteers, who assist the paid staff each week. Please ask the nursery workers if you have any questions about the procedures, and also let them know if your child has any allergies or other special needs. The nursery is located just off the lobby on the second floor.
Sunday School is not being offered in it's usual format (one hour time slot). However, there is a multi-generational class being offered right now on Sunday mornings from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. in Room 112 with Pastor Ben Burkholder leading.
This ministry is offered during the 10:15 a.m. service from September through May. An amended version is offered during the summer. Children ages 37-months through third grade attend worship with their parents and then are dismissed before the offering on the first, third, and fifth weeks of each month. Children stay in the adult service on the second and fourth weeks. Children are led in worship in a way that models a Sunday School class-type experience and includes small group prayer time, Bible lesson, and application.

Trekkers is a youth group type program for 3rd-5th graders. We will be meeting outside and in Room 305 from 5:00-6:15 p.m. Your children will experience a time of fun, prepackaged portion snacks (no dinner), small groups, and a Bible lesson. This year we will be studying Bible Heroes.
As Presbyterians we view our children as essentially being part of the church family until such time as they may opt out by their own choices. Therefore, we apply to our children the covenant sign of water baptism. This is preferably done as soon as possible.
Click here for more information on covenant baptism.
Once baptized, a child is regarded as a “baptized member.” Note that we only baptize children who have at least one parent who is an active member of our church.
Sermon: The Mode of Baptism
It is our longing to see our covenant children come to a place where they are able to personally confess faith in Jesus. When a parent feels a child has reached this point and is able to make a credible profession before the elders, this is the time for an interview to be admitted to the Lord’s Table and to the confirmed membership of the church. Parents may call the office, contact the Sr. Pastor or approach any elder about this.
Children's Membership Manual
For parents who desire to assist their children in preparing for confirmed membership, a children’s membership manual has been developed. This is a home-study version of a communicants class, covering the basics of the gospel, what baptism and the Lord’s Supper are about, and what church membership involves. The use of this material is offered at no-charge and is entirely optional.
Young people at NPC, once they turn 16, will be encouraged to attend either the regular adult membership courses or special teen membership classes, if offered. Upon completion of the class requirements, a teen who desires to become a full adult member will be interviewed by at least two elders. If the teen has already been approved for communion and membership this will simply be a teen shepherding checkup, otherwise it is a regular membership interview.
