North Park Church (NPC) exists to “Make disciples of Jesus who WORSHIP God passionately, CONNECT with each other in caring community, and IMPACT the world through word and deed.”  The Assistant Pastor of Youth and Discipleship will embody this mission by leading an energetic, Christ-centered ministry for middle and high school students (grades 6-12) and equipping their families to nurture NPC’S youth into growing disciples of Christ. This role requires a vibrant leader with a passion for youth, a heart for Biblical teaching and counseling, and an evangelical zeal for outreach.


Key Responsibilities

 

Make Disciples Who Worship:

  • Lead with Passion: Develop and oversee a dynamic, fun, and Biblically grounded youth ministry that inspires middle and high school students to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.
  • Teach and Counsel: Provide engaging teaching rooted in Reformed theology and offer Biblical counseling to families and students, fostering spiritual maturity and a robust Christian worldview.
  • Develop Future Leaders: Identify, recruit, and train student leaders and volunteers to become disciple-makers and future leaders in the church.
  • Equip Parents: Partner with parents through resources, training, and encouragement to disciple their children effectively at home.

Connect in Caring Community:

  • Build Relationships: Develop strong relationships with the Youth of North Park Church by serving as their mentor and elder representative.
  • Engage the Disconnected: Seek out students within the church who are disengaged, offering encouragement and support to draw them into the life of the youth ministry.
  • Equip the Body: Encourage parents in their spiritual calling toward students. Train and assist NPC adults to spiritually invest and mentor students.  Serve as a liaison between parents and youth, fostering trust, communication, and collaboration to strengthen family faith.
  • Engage The Church Body: Participate actively in the broader life of the church beyond youth ministry.
  • Create Community: Plan regular gatherings, retreats, and events that foster meaningful and enjoyable connections among students and the wider church body.
  • Recruit and Delegate: Energetically recruit students and adult volunteers; delegate tasks to a capable team of adult and student leaders.
  • Support Volunteers: Train, equip, and shepherd the team of adult volunteers to assist in ministry, ensuring they are aligned with the church’s vision and values.
  • Leverage Technology: Use digital tools to communicate with students, promote events, and provide creative resources for spiritual growth and outreach.

Impact the World:

  • Evangelical Outreach: Develop strategies to reach unchurched students in the community with the gospel, welcoming them into the youth ministry.
  • Serve and Lead: Plan opportunities for students to serve within the church and engage in local outreach, including an annual summer mission trip.
  • Empower Students and Families: Encourage students and families to engage their local community with gospel impact. 

Additional Duties

  • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor, elders, and staff in prayer, planning, and ministry execution, attending staff and Session meetings as needed.
  • Preach periodically and assist with sacraments as directed by the Senior Pastor.
  • Prepare and manage an annual youth ministry budget, approved by the Session.
  • Engage with the Presbytery as time allows, representing the church faithfully.

Candidate Qualities

  • Energetic and Fun: Brings enthusiasm and joy to ministry, connecting with youth through a lively and relatable presence.
  • Passionate for Youth: Demonstrates a deep love for middle and high school students and a desire to see them grow in faith.
  • Biblical Counselor: Believes in and skillfully applies Biblical counseling to guide students and families.
  • Evangelical Heart: Burns with a passion to reach the lost and share the gospel with students inside and outside the church.
  • Leader and Team Player: Able to plan, delegate, and collaborate effectively with volunteers, staff, and church leadership.
  • Reformed Conviction: Committed to Reformed theology, aligning with the church’s doctrinal standards and values (Westminster Confession and EPC Essentials of Our Faith). 
  • Elder Character: Exhibits the qualities of an elder (1 Timothy 3:2-7), with a pastoral heart and integrity.

Qualifications

  • Ordained or ordainable as a male Teaching Elder in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) through the Presbytery of the Alleghenies.
  • 3-5 years of pastoral ministry experience.
  • Strong teaching gifts and experience in youth ministry or family discipleship.

Director of Operations

Full Time: 40/ Hours Week

North Park Church (NPC) is seeking an Operations Director to direct and give oversight to facilities and finance. The Director is responsible for managing both NPC’s custodial and accounting needs while also coordinating with other ministries. This position requires performance of the duties personally and through staff and volunteers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the operational readiness of the church through leadership and oversight of facilities and finance management
  • Stewarding the physical resources God has provided for NPC via Custodians, Directors, Partners, and Deacons (staff and/or volunteer)
  • Directing the maintenance, custodial, property care, safety, and security of facility
  • Negotiating and managing relationships with facility users, subcontractors, vendors
  • Participating with Building & Grounds Deacons and interfacing with key volunteers
  • Supporting staff with building use and room setup, as needed
  • Overseeing the financial resources God has provided for NPC via Finance (staff and/or volunteer)
  • Developing annual financial plans while working with the Finance Committee Chairman and President of the nonprofit corporation
  • Supporting the Finance Committee with monthly reports, meeting attendance, and presenting to Session
  • Interfacing with banker, broker, insurer, benefits provider, and payroll service
  • Administering payroll, benefits and employee personnel manual together with the Administration and Personnel Committee
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Active and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude, speech and behavior
  • Regular attendance in NPC church service, in pursuit of membership preferred
  • Strong business acumen to manage NPC facilities and finance
  • Proficiency in navigating accounting, payroll service and Google/Microsoft software
  • Excellent supervisory skills; demonstrated ability to identify, recruit, and develop high-performing teams that steward our facilities and finance
  • Self-motivated and collaborative, yet able to work independently

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and sit. The employee must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
